In Dayak tradition, a boar's fang carried into the forest is not a trophy. It is protection — a small, deliberate way of asking the forest's older, wilder residents for safe passage, and of carrying a little of their strength back out with you.
Why I chose it
I am drawn to objects that still carry a function beyond decoration — things people once wore because they meant something, not because they matched an outfit. A boar's fang, worn close to the chest, is exactly that kind of object: raw, unpolished, and honest about what it is.
Prepared, not disguised
The fang is cleaned and set by hand, its natural curve, tone, and surface texture left as found rather than reshaped to look uniform. Small irregularities in shape and colour are part of the material, not a flaw to correct.
