What CITES actually is
CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its purpose is straightforward: make sure that international trade in wildlife-derived materials does not threaten the survival of the species involved. It applies to legally sourced, regulated materials too — CITES is about traceable, lawful trade, not a ban on natural materials.
Which of our materials it can apply to
- Genuine cobra, python, and crocodile leather
- Real crocodile tooth
- Other wildlife-derived materials used in specific pieces
Not every product in our collection is affected. Items made from silver, pearl, wood, or brass generally fall outside CITES entirely. Whether documentation is required for a specific order depends on the exact material and your destination country.
What documentation we prepare for you
For applicable products, our studio works with regulated Indonesian suppliers and prepares the export documentation required on our end before your order ships. This is handled as part of our normal process — you do not need to request it separately for standard orders, though we are always glad to confirm details before you buy if you want certainty in advance.
What this means for your order timeline
When documentation applies, it can add a small amount of preparation time before dispatch, on top of our usual 1–7 business day preparation window. We would rather take that extra care than rush a shipment that could be delayed or questioned at your border. If a specific destination has stricter import requirements — some countries do — it is worth asking us before you order rather than after.
Common questions before you order
Do all products require CITES documents?
No. It depends entirely on the material and, in some cases, the destination country.
Will customs hold my package?
This is uncommon when documentation is properly prepared, but import review timing is ultimately outside our control once a package leaves our hands. Complete, accurate paperwork is the best protection we can offer.
Do you ship worldwide regardless?
Yes. Worldwide shipping is included on every order; country-specific pricing and any applicable VAT are calculated once you select your shipping destination at checkout.
